Overview

This short safari combines two of northern Tanzania’s most iconic parks. Tarangire is famous for its giant baobab trees, rolling savannah, and huge elephant herds. Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a natural amphitheater filled with wildlife, from lions and rhinos to flamingos. In just two days, you experience both landscapes: the dry, golden plains of Tarangire and the lush, dramatic crater floor of Ngorongoro.

Day 0 – Arrival

A well-presented driver will be at Kilimanjaro International Airport for pick up and followed by a one-hour drive to your hotel/lodge in Moshi town/ Arusha. You’ll rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the adventure ahead. Tomorrow, the safari begins.

Day 1 – Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Distance: 120 km / 75 mi (approx. 2–3 hours drive)

Safari Time: Full‑day game drive

Habitat: Savannah / Baobab Woodland

Description:

After breakfast, you drive south to Tarangire National Park. The landscape is dotted with giant baobab trees and wide savannah. Tarangire is known for its massive elephant herds, often seen moving in family groups. You’ll also spot giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and predators like lions and leopards. The Tarangire River draws wildlife year‑round, making game viewing excellent. In the afternoon, you continue your game drive before heading to your lodge or tented camp near the park. Dinner and overnight stay in Tarangire area.

Day 2 – Ngorongoro Crater Safari, then Return to Arusha

Distance: 170 km / 105 mi (approx. 3–4 hours drive)

Safari Time: Full‑day game drive in the crater

Habitat: Heathland

Description:

Early morning, you drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the crater. The views from the rim are breathtaking, with mist rising over the vast caldera. On the crater floor, wildlife is everywhere: lions resting in the grass, hippos wallowing in pools, flamingos lining the lake, and—if lucky—the rare black rhino. You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot inside the crater. In the afternoon, you ascend back to the rim and drive to Arusha, arriving by evening. Safari ends with drop‑off at your lodge or airport.
